I dedicate this post to...

Lots of people don't know this about me... but ever since I was 5 years I've been obsessed with basketball. My Dad bought me my first "biddy ball" for "biddy ball" and I remember the high school girls coming in on a Saturday to teach us how to shoot and dribble. My Dad got our family season tickets to ABL games and International Women's games- we'd make posters before the games and get them signed by the whole team...

I'll never forget the first time I met Jennifer Rizzotti of the ABL Blizzard- an all-star woman basketball players. To put it in perspective I was as excited to meet her as any other girl my age would've been to meet the Spice Girls. He told me once that when Rizzotti was younger she'd sleep with a basketball, that's when I replaced my teddy bear with my basketball. My Dad did it all- he'd get me gigs as "water girl" and ask coaches if I could meet the teams.

...and as I got older we'd go to the courts and he'd rebound for me.... for hours. And for better or worse even on vacation- we'd find a court whether we were in the Adirondacks in New York or the Republic of Malta. Millions of shots. Over and over. While some can say it didn't amount to much- I'm obviously not playing professionally and well I didn't even play in college. I wouldn't trade all of those hours for anything. My Dad's taught me more important lessons about life making me shoot that darn basketball every day then anything else.

Thanks Daddio.
Happy [Early] Birthday, I love you.

  1. Hey Kelly!

Thanks so much for your kind words and lol cartoon on my B-day...your posting made my day!

Our shared passion for hoops was just too much fun when you were growing up, giving us so many wonderful memories of our times together both on-and-off the court. And about those millions of shots thru the years...you should know that I am always ready to rebound for you ;-)

While we are all missing you here on the East Coast, everyone knows your life is "pretty, pretty good" out there in Hollywood!

    Miss ya a bunch,

    Dad
